This is special for previous Sabily user. If you want to upgrade Sabily Gaza to Sabily Manarat, you can follow this command from your terminal. This information is from Mr. Abdelmonam through e-mel.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sabily.team/ppa && sudo apt-get -q update
sudo apt-get install sabily
Answer 'Yes' when needed.
This information also can be found on Sabily homepage.
So you don't need to make new installation which will delete your data in the previous version.
Assalamo alaykom akhi,
ReplyDeleteYou should mention that:
-------------------------
You don't need to reinstall sabily from a DVD neither loose your current additional packages that you added to Gaza edition, all what you need is an Internet connection + follow these instructions:
1- upgrade ubuntu, follow this guide: http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/upgrade
2- install Sabily: Open a terminal window (Applications→Accessories→Terminal), and execute the following commands:
-------------------------
then you complete with the rest of your post, I mean:
-------------------------
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sabily.team/ppa && sudo apt-get -q update
sudo apt-get install sabily
Answer 'Yes' when needed.
-------------------------
For the sentence: "This information also can be found on Sabily homepage." it should point the installation page instead of the homepage, I mean here: http://www.sabily.org/website/index.php/en/sabily/installation
Wassalam :)
Waalaikomsalam bro and welcome back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for comment. Sorry cause I'm editing with limited of time. I will edit back my post later.
Anyway I like them to browse Sabily homepage so I'm not link directly to the installation page.
p/s - event Sabily still don't want to link my blog there :-(
Assalamo alaykom,
ReplyDeleteThere is another solution, if you see the thread titled "[sabily-users] Upgrading to Gaza to Manarat" in the google mailing list you can see that I attached a screenshot in which the sabily repository is desabled after upgrading ubuntu, the simplest solution is to enable this repository and then make an update and so you will get sabily Manarat inshalla :)
So to recapitulate:
1- make an upgrade to ubuntu
2- enable sabily repository
3- make an update (via update manager)
and then enjoy Manarat
For "p/s - event Sabily still don't want to link my blog there :-( " really I don't understand you! can you please explain more? what is "event Sabily"?
Sorry, I'm using wrong word. It should be "although" not "event".
ReplyDeleteYou know that I write about Sabily more and more in this blog. No body ask me to do it. But I do because I like Sabily. I also write about other distro. That is my style to introduce Sabily to other distro user. I think it is spread widely in my country now.
Then, sometimes I think, why Sabily homepage administrator don't want to put my blog link there.
Nevermind, just forget it..
Till now I will continuously write about Sabily because I like Sabily.
Well on the homepage I think it will be disappear after some new posts there but in this page it will persist: http://www.sabily.org/website/index.php/fr/sabily-on-the-web
ReplyDeleteI asked Mehdi from a while to do that (add your blog -and mine- to this page) he said me OK I will do but he did not, I think he forget that so I will re-contact him inshalla soon ;)
Assalamo alaykom akhi,
